We rely on people both within and outside our business to deliver our business objectives. Valuing our people and partners is critical to ensuring our relationships flourish.
We are always seeking talented individuals to join the Redrow team and we are especially proud of our development programmes for young people. All our apprentices, trainees, graduates, and sponsored degree students go through structured bespoke programmes. Everyone is supported in their role through ongoing training which encourages professional development, whilst also promoting wellbeing through excellent support systems and wellbeing resources. You can find out more in our talent and trainee factsheet.
We provide a sustainability overview in our corporate inductions to all new employees. We also deliver Site Environmental Awareness Training (SEAT) to all our site teams and this is on the HS&E matrix. In addition we offer 10 modules to enhance further employees sustainability knowledge and skills.
Our sustainability team host regular internal webinars surrounding carbon and biodiversity to ensure all employee's receive the most up to date information on topic areas.
Training and development continue to be fundamental to the growth of our business with individuals given the skills and opportunities to realise their potential and fulfil their aspirations. This is demonstrated by more than 50% of our directors coming from internal promotions. And with 15% of our employees currently on structured training programmes this trend is set to continue. To support our career development programmes we have training facilities across the country, with centres in the Midlands, North West and in London.
At Redrow, we’re proud to attract some of the most promising graduates in the industry, but we know that getting a construction related degree is just the start. All of our graduates are put through a two-year programme, designed to show how what they learned at university is applied in real life, to ensure the highest levels of quality and health and safety are achieved on site.
We are the first and only housebuilder to achieve the Quality Mark from the British Institute of Learning and Development for the standard of the training we deliver. Our internal training is also CPD accredited, helping individuals excel in their roles as well as working towards achieving professional development.
To deliver our future business challenges, we need to attract and retain the best people and provide continuous support and training.
We are committed to the development of our apprentices, trainees, graduates and sponsored degree students across the business. We've also partnered with the House Building Skills Partnership to promote careers in housebuilding, with a focus on attracting new entrants into the industry and on providing specialist training to develop the qualified workforce needed to construct today's high quality new homes.
Redrow leads the industry in developing the next generation of builders and skilled tradespeople. Our apprentices get first class training, both on site and alongside our training partners. We work with key suppliers to ensure they achieve a comprehensive understanding of the wider aspects of their chosen field. For example, Roe Brickwork, based in the South East, has been training apprentices for over 20 years and currently mentors apprentices on site.
We are committed to a number of strategic partnerships across all our 14 divisions, supporting new entrants into the business with intermediate, advance and higher degree level qualifications. Redrow is a proud partner of the NHBC Bricklaying Hub located in various areas across the country as well as The SMB Group where our Carpentry Academy operates. The variety and level of training opportunities help embed classroom-based learning with additional skills, knowledge and behaviours for our construction and built environment students.
In partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and Coleg Cambria we established the UK’s first dedicated Housebuilding Degree. The three-year degree gives students a full overview of housebuilding skills including quality, project management, health and safety, business skills and law. Learning is delivered through a blend of classroom activities, virtual learning, practical site visits and tutorials, meaning that learners will be able to combine their studies with working and earning.

Diversity is a celebration of all the characteristics which make us different and individual and we are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive culture at Redrow.
Delivering on our targets requires every employee to engage with and champion diversity issues. As well as supporting employee-led initiatives and networks, we welcome open discussion with a dedicated ED&I intranet page.
Supporting the physical, emotional and financial wellbeing of our people really matters and it’s something we take very seriously. The health and wellbeing of our employees and sub-contractors is embedded at the heart of our culture and as part of this, we offer a wide range of wellbeing programmes, initiatives and education to support our colleagues both in work and in their personal lives. Our dedicated Wellbeing Champions engage our teams across the divisions and promote the fantastic support we offer, including MyLife our Employee Assistance Programme and Mental Health First Aiders.
Industry-wide, the construction workforce currently has just 16% female representation and we are determined to help that figure to increase. In our bid to build a culture that is inclusive to all, we have published targets to increase the percentage of women recruited into graduate roles to 40% and the percentage of female employees in senior management roles to 28%, all by 2025.
We’re extremely proud of the women who make up our workforce at Redrow, read more about the stories of women at Redrow here.
